Welcome to the Event Industry News May/June 2009

In the current economic climate all forms of marketing are coming under increased scrutiny. In the United States, Senator John Kerry has proposed legislation that would require companies receiving government bailouts to seek approval for meetings and hospitality spend. In the UK details have just been announced of the postponement of the British International Motor Show. EventSuccess talks to Austen Hawkins from the Events for an insight into the current state of the event industry.

Face to face is the oldest form of marketing communication and event marketers have been amongst the quickest to investigate and adopt digital marketing. Increasing brands are looking at ways they can integrate their live and their digital communication, the recent Skittles campaign being a clear example of this. EventSuccess.tv talks to industry analyst, blogger and twitter Mike Fletcher about the latest technology trends:

Key event industry trends are always the subject of seminars in the Excite! Seminar Programme. The show which takes place in Earls Court at the end of June has evolved from the Exhibiting Show and the first details of this year's seminar programme have just been announced including sessions on experiential campaigns, major live events and the automotive sector. Excite! founder Simon Burton is a passionate advocate of the power of events and EventSuccess.tv talks to him about the recent announcements and developments at the show.
